World Autism Awareness Day 2015

World Autism Awareness Day 2015

Posted by Sarah Gelber on 2nd Apr 2015

As we all know, Mother's Day is next month, and is considered one of the most popular holidays in the spring. But before you prepare for that, take a moment to remember World Autism Awareness Day this year.

If you're not familiar with it, here's a little bit of background on this internationally celebrated day. Autism Awareness Day and Month were started to bring awareness to Autism, and the idea of inclusion and self determination to all. Autism Awareness is important because  Autism is simply part of life. Many people don't understand autism, but being aware is a good way to start.

As a company, 48LongStems is dedicated to giving back. This year, we're actively participating in Autism Awareness Month in the best way that we know how: through our beautiful Rainbow Roses. After all, roses are considered some of the most beautiful flowers, and it's only fitting that they be used to do good to go with their immense beauty.

For the month of April, 10% of all proceeds raised from our 12 Stem Rainbow Roses will be going to Autism Speaks, a prevalent Autism charity. We hope that by giving back and raising awareness, we can help further the cause that allows people to better understand autism and accept it.

Though you may not be personally touched by Autism, someone that you know may be. A neighbor, friend, student...Autism has the power to touch each and every one of us. Being aware means celebrating what it means, and accepting that being different is okay. Normal is a subjective term, just like perfect. In the end, we are all people. For the month of April, we hope you'll support us in this important cause.
